A customized version of Kuder Navigator® enables Arkansas schools to implement the Act 930 of 2017-mandates to address preparation for college, career, and community engagement.
Kuder has been selected by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) as a qualified option for school districts to provide online college and career planning for students in grades 8-12 throughout the state. A customized version of the award-winning Navigator will be accessible to Arkansas schools at the beginning of 2019-2020 academic year.
The ADE is offering districts a variety of options when it comes to selecting a provider to implement Act 930 of 2017, which mandates Student Success Plans to address preparation for college, career, and community engagement.
The ADE has formally vetted career planning system providers from throughout the country to enable Arkansas schools to maintain local decision-making ability while ensuring that quality, research-based assessment tools will be utilized for career planning. Arkansas school districts must select an option by August 31, 2019.
As of the current academic year (2018-2019), by the end of eighth grade, each student in Arkansas must have a Student Success Plan developed by school personnel, in collaboration with students and families. The Student Success Plan is reviewed and updated on an annual basis and follows the student through graduation.
The Student Success Plan is a dynamic, working plan that relies on college and career readiness assessments to assist students with course selection and to provide the basis for counseling concerning postsecondary-prep programs. Kuder’s customized version of Navigator includes a variety of college and career readiness (CCR) tools and resources, including three evidence-based assessments that measure students’ interests, skills confidence, and work values. Navigator’s Student Graduation Plan builder will support the Student Success Plan process.
“Kuder has earned a strong reputation for customizing our platform to meet each client’s local needs,” said John Milroy, vice president of client relations for Kuder. “We’re thrilled to continue to bring our technology to Arkansas, where we’ve been helping students dream big and plan accordingly since 2002.”
“Our goal is to provide Arkansas school districts an excellent choice for empowering their students with career readiness,” said Dane Merry, former director of business development for Kuder.
